  • RELEASE - CCPA Receives ODOT Grant

    (Wilmington, Ohio) The Clinton County Port Authority received notification from the Ohio Department of Transportation, Office of Aviation that it would receive a FY2024 Grant in support of navigational aids upgrades and repairs. The $493,000.00 Grant will be used to augment Port Authority funds for the purchase and installation of a Localizer on the 10,000-foot runway.

Recreation

Clinton County is an easy, comfortable and happy place to visit and stay. The people and attractions are laid back and unpretentious, providing an ideal environment for visitors to relax, unwind and enjoy life at a more relaxed pace.  Clinton County is friendly and likeable. Clinton County is a rural oasis offering a welcome break from demanding deadlines, large crowds and commercial overload.

Nearby parks include Caesar Creek State Park, Clinton County Trails, Ole Super K, and Cowan Lake State Park. Fishing, nature preserves and golf courses, both public and private, are plenty throughout the county.

Museums

The Clinton Country History Center is where you will find much of the country’s history. The Meriam R. Hare Quaker Heritage Center is dedicated to celebrating the history of the Religious Society of Friends.  The Peace Resource Center features the largest depository of materials outside Japan relating to the atomic bombing of Hiroshima/Nagasaki. 
The world’s oldest and largest museum, The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, located at Wright –Patterson Air Force Base, is open every day and free. Learn how Ohio helped foster the movement of slaves from the south during the Civil War at the Underground Museum at the Freedom Center.  The Cincinnati Art Museum includes an extensive permanent collection of fine art.

Festivals and Sporting Events

Festivals are plenty throughout the year. Residents and visitors alike enjoy themselves at the multiple events including:  The Southern Ohio Indoor Music Festival, and the Clinton County Corn Festival.  And if you enjoy amusement parks, Kings Island is less than 25 minutes away.  Just 12 miles from downtown Wilmington you can go back in time and enjoy 16th century jousting at the Ohio Renaissance Festival. You don’t have to go too far to find major league sports. Take in a game at the Cincinnati Reds or Cincinnati Bengals, all less than 45 minutes from Wilmington. In Dayton you can enjoy the AAA Dayton Dragons and collegiate sports
