  • Richard Thompson Retires from the Clinton County Port Authority Board; John Settlemyre, Brian Smith Appointed

    The September 14, 2017, meeting of the Clinton County Port Authority Board of Directors saw the end of an era, with the retirement of Richard Thompson from the Board. Thompson was appointed to the Port Authority Board in 2004, when the Port Authority was formed by the Clinton County Board of Commissioners.

  • The University of Akron and Airborne Project on Pathway to FAA Certification

    The Wilmington Air Park is proud to be the home of a partnership to add value and safety to the aviation industry through applied technology. Air Park tenant Airborne Maintenance and Engineering Services, along with the University of Akron, welcomed several guests for the ribbon cutting on its new Supersonic Particle Deposition Booth. The process employs a supersonic jet of an expanded gas containing metal particles to bond with a solid surface on impact. It is part of a pilot program funded by the State of Ohio and including partners NCERCAMP (University of Akron), SAFE Engineering, US Technology Corporation and Airborne Maintenance and Engineering Services.

  • WILMINGTON AIR PARK WELCOMES NEW TENANT - Schuerger Law Offices to operate Call Center

    WILMINGTON, OH – FEBRUARY 22, 2017 – The Wilmington Air Park recently added another new tenant, bringing a new employer and new job opportunities to the community. The Law Offices of Robert A. Schuerger Co., LPA has leased 4,400 square feet of office space in the Air Park’s Administration Building. The space will house both legal services and a call center operation for the law firm. The lease term is approximately five years, with a five-year renewal option.

  • Wilmington Air Park Now Certified at Cat III

    Wilmington, Ohio – October 4, 2016 – The most recent runway in the United States to be Certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as Category III is located at the Wilmington Air Park. The Clinton County Port Authority and LGSTX Services, Inc. received word from the FAA that the Instrument Landing System (ILS) on Runway 22R has been officially certified at Category III/E/3.

  • Clinton County Receives Brownfields Grant

    Wilmington, Ohio – May 20, 2016 – The Clinton County Port Authority and the Clinton County Regional Planning Commission received word this week that the Port Authority has received a $200,000 Brownfields Assessment Grant from the US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA).

  • FAA Authorization Propels UC's UAV Work Skyward

    The high-flying endeavors in unmanned aerial vehicle testing and research at the University of Cincinnati just got a new lift from the Federal Aviation Administration. This week the FAA granted UC's Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics and Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering certificates of authorization (COA) to test five types of UAVs, or drones, in Wilmington Air Park, less than an hour's drive from campus. Permission to also fly with the West Virginia Division of Forestry is still pending.

Road System

Crossed by eight major interstates, Ohio has the 7th largest road system and the 6th largest interstate system in the United States.  Wilmington Air Park is less than 10 miles east of Interstate 71 which serves as a major north-south link between the Great Lakes and the Southeast.  The recently completed 73 Bypass gives trucks easy access to the Interstate highway system. Ohio’s trucking industry is the 4th largest in the nation adding over $6.3 billion to the gross domestic product. 
 
Rail

Ohio’s rail industry ranks 4th in the nation as measured by contribution to the gross domestic product--$1.8 billion—and, its 5,318 miles of tracks than are more than those of 47 states.  Its 5,316 miles of tracks are more than those of 47 other states. CSX Transportation, Norfolk Southern and Wheeling and Lake Erie all run rail operations throughout Ohio.  Rail spurs connecting truck, air and water traffic maximize the benefit this system provides the region and state.
 
Air

In addition to the Air Park being a fully functional industrial airport, Wilmington Air Park is located within a 60-mile radius of the Dayton, Cincinnati and Columbus International Airports. Wilmington Air Park provides seamless air-to-highway connectivity. In addition, Ohio's 180-public airport system provides a sure air transport solution to every region in the state. 
 
Water

Ohio has 209 port terminals along 716 miles of navigable waterways leading to the Gulf of Mexico and the St. Lawrence Seaway.  The Army Corps of Engineers ranks Ohio 7th in waterborne domestic cargo.
